Filming restaurant content for Lokma

Filming restaurant content for Lokma

We produced the Lokma films at Westfield London through Beyond for website and social use. This journal entry focuses on planning restaurant content for a website and social channels within the same shoot.

Explore the material above and view the Lokma portfolio project for the selected films. The production considerations here apply to planning a restaurant shoot around service, presentation and the required edits.

Planning around a working restaurant

A restaurant shoot needs to take account of the business around it. Food preparation, staff availability and access to the space all affect when a particular shot can be made.

For a similar production, share service times and identify the dishes or features that must appear. A clear order of work helps the team know what is needed next without trying to prepare everything at once.

Different edits, one production

A website film and a social edit can draw on the same subject, but the viewing context is different. The brief should identify the formats, lengths and uses that matter before the filming begins.

That helps guide framing and the amount of material needed. It is particularly useful to know if a scene must work in both a wider composition and a vertical crop.

Leave time for the details

Small visual details can matter in a restaurant film: the presentation of a dish, the position of a glass or what is visible behind the main subject. Those checks take time and belong in the schedule.

If photographs are required too, include them in the plan. Stills need their own compositions and should not depend on spare moments between video setups.
