A showhome film for Herons Quarter
We created this showhome film for Bargate Homes at Herons Quarter for use in a website header. The placement shaped the brief: the film needed to introduce the property within the wider page design.
Explore the finished piece above. For this commission, the website-header placement was central to the brief. A visitor encounters that film as part of a page, so the sequence has to work within its surrounding layout.
The role of the website placement
A website-header brief is different from a longer film that someone deliberately sits down to watch. The footage needs to work within a page layout, often alongside a logo, navigation or introductory text.
When planning a similar commission, it is useful to share the intended layout before filming. Knowing where the video will sit helps identify the framing and movement that will work in that space.
It is also worth discussing whether the film needs to make sense without sound and how it will be displayed on mobile. These are practical design decisions, not something to leave until the video has been completed.
Preparing a showhome
A clear list of rooms and important features helps organise the visit. The property should be ready for filming, with styling and finishing work completed wherever possible.
Walk through the space beforehand and check surfaces, windows, visible cables and temporary items. If a particular feature is central to the brief, flag it so time can be allocated to it.
Photography alongside the film
A website update may need still photographs as well as video. List those requirements separately so the production can cover both deliberately.
