Restaurant filmmaking for Zouk

We made this restaurant film for Zouk in Manchester through Beyond. It is one of our restaurant commissions with the agency, alongside the Lokma films made at Westfield London.

Explore the finished film above. The Manchester location reflects the wider reach of the portfolio, alongside our primary work across Hampshire, Surrey and London.

A restaurant as the subject

A restaurant film can draw on several parts of the business: the food, the setting, the preparation and the people. The brief needs to establish which of those carries the story.

The sequence should give someone who has never visited a sense of the restaurant. A dish, a preparation detail and a wider view of the room each contribute different information.

Preparing a hospitality shoot

For a similar production, identify the dishes, drinks and spaces that should appear. Discuss when they can be prepared and when the filming can happen around service.

The schedule needs to allow for the practical work behind each setup. Food may need to be prepared at a particular moment, tables may need to be reset and parts of the restaurant may only be available at certain times.

Share any brand guidance and planned placements too. A main website film and shorter social edits may require different versions and framing.

Photography alongside filming

If the brief also includes photographs, list them separately. A still image and a moving sequence do not always need the same setup, even when they feature the same dish or room.

Planning both from the beginning gives each format the time it needs and helps establish a useful set of finished assets.
