Fashion style photography for Essential Jewlery
When Essential Jewelry contacted me about doing another photoshoot for their new jewlery collection, we were thrilled. As photographers, we love working with jewelry in studio - there's just something magical about capturing the way light plays off precious metals and stones.
We decided to do the shoot in our studio with models wearing the pieces against a variety of backdrops. We wanted the colors of the stones - vivid blues, greens, and purples - to really pop. For jewelry, I find that using soft boxes and reflectors to bounce light back onto the pieces creates a luminous, almost ethereal glow.
We shot with only continuous lighting to achieve a variety of moods. Some of the necklaces and earrings seemed to come alive when bathed in the gentle glow of the light. Others took on an earthier, more organic look under the soft flood from the studio LEDs. Throughout the shoot, I was struck by the artistry and craftsmanship that went into each piece. The designs managed to feel at once modern and timeless.
By the end of the session, we had hundreds of photos showcasing the beauty of the new collection. The talented models were able to showcase statement pieces along with more delicate, minimalist items. I was excited to go through and edit the images - this shoot was a visual feast of sparkling gems and precious metals. When photographing jewelry, our goal is always to translate that through-the-looking-glass magic you feel when you see an especially striking piece. Judging by the shots from this session, I think we succeeded in capturing that wonder. We’re happy to share the luminous, glittering world of Essential Jewelry.
